ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Marguerite Jones Utley

Marguerite Utley has had all the symptoms of narcolepsy for over forty years. She was diagnosed with narcolepsy in 1966, about the time she received a degree in Elementary Education from The University of Texas at Austin. Her first year of college in 1952 presented no problems with sleepiness, but she had developed narcolepsy by the time she returned ten years later to finish her education. She taught for four years and then accepted a Leadership Development Program fellowship based on teaching English as a Second Language. She had to resign that program after a few months because of narcolepsy.
Marguerite has been involved in narcolepsy support groups on the local, state and national levels. She is a former Narcolepsy Network board member and served as editor of their newsletter for three years. She is active in her church, and her favorite activity is teaching Bible stories for children using flannel board materials. Other interests include gardening and reading (which she is once again able to do).
Marguerite and her husband, Clyde, live in Duncanville, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. One of her greatest pleasures comes from being a grandmother and great grandmother.
